Impoundable truth of train fares..

face model, alvin lee
(face model, alvin lee. p/s i’ve done a horrible job in cropping and blending)

yup, that was the unveiled philosophy by alvin lee on 1st of may, labour day, which was when the activation of the monstrous adult fare.

an extract of his post.

$1.33
The price i gave just now is really small.Well,if you have $1.33 in your wallet, you can’t buy anything!

However like the saying goes,” Even the smallest amount can be the biggest if it accumulate.” That $1.33 can give you maybe two ice cream cones from Macdonalds but that’s not the main point. This $1.33 is the amount it deducts from my Ez Link card whenever i go SCHOOL before concession. LET ME REMIND YOU,$1.33 only includes one single trip.WHAT IF YOU WANNA GO HOME?

Let’s do some simple maths:
$1.33x 2= $2.66 (One day fare if you are a good student who goes home straight after school)
$2.66x 5=$13.30(One week fare if you only go out for school)
$13.30x 4=$53.20(One month fare if you REALLY don’t go out)
$53.20x 12=$638.40(One year fare if you just stay at home and school ONLY)
$638.40x 80=$51072(Assuming i lived till 80 and take MRT and NEVER GO OUT AT ALL FOR 80 years AND SCHOOLING FOR 80 years)

$638.40x 4680000=$2987712000(The amount of money SMRT earn a year if everyone in Singapore uses Adult fare and public transport)

duh, obviously, he is being exaggerating. never for once i would understand why people were always whining about the burden of paying adult fare.. and it finally rang a bell in my head on 1st of may.

as all of you might now, we students actually had concession that lasted till the end of sec 4 and even till the month of april for those who attended pae which was known as jc trial to many. back then, i was mocking at alvin since he was one of those in my clique who didn’t qualify
for
chose to skip pae.

each time i tapped my ezlink card, a sense of arrogance surged through me when i see only 45 cents deducted from train or hearing the marvelous melody in bus. now i’m no longer seeing/hearing that.

despite all the wonderfulness of student fare, i’ve yet to emphasize why i hated adult fare. i had the remainder of approximately 2 dollars on the last day of april, which means i could have travel like 5 rides with student fare, but if i’m paying as an adult, it provides only 2 pathetic rides, not to mention the distance that i’m traveling.

…before you realised it, you would have spend 20 bucks a week for topping up your ezlink balance. as of typing this, i have already applied train concession which entitles me to 4 rides a day. not much of a deal to be blogging about it, but it do saves a hell lot of money if you simply calculate.

guess i have thrown my point here. my job is done, on to the next post! :D

I ripped $160 from…

MY MUM!

bad karma. bad karma. this coming sat sun is mother’s day and i’ve yet to buy something for her.. it was only till alvin reminded me today after frisbee training at nyp. …shit, i’m in a dilemma. why did i even rip her in the first place? i have bought a new pair of onitsuka tiger despite having a mint-conditioned pair of kapaa shoes at my shoe yard.

i guess it all leads to an impulsive decision of buying that pair of shoes some time ago which i have only wore it for twice so far and now, i’m troubled if i’m able to sell of this pair of shoes quickly to retrieve my loss.

my mind is all filled up with econs now. …i seriously my demand curve exceeds the curliness of normal beings. i haven’t revise a single page of my notes since week 1.. i’m like behind time now. i failed my itab quiz with a whopping dreaded score of 53.33/120… WTH? that’s already worse.. and now i’m thinking myself as a materialistic person lah. darn, this feels so lousy.

quoted from dictionary.com

a person who is markedly more concerned with material things than with spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values.

now…..

Are you looking forward to jc/poly life?

anyway, speaking of today, i actually crashed nyp’s ultimate frisbee training. i thought it was superb. not only the cca itself, but also the present athletes. i was told that nyp was champion for both soccer and frisbee! woo! in comparison, nyp seems to have more enthu sportsmen than sp. somehow, i’m starting to fall in love with frisbee again! the times in sec sch where we played frisbee among ourselves during non-curriculum time.

i might crash nyp’s frisbee next week again.

tomorrow is iqah’s birthday, and i’m so looking forward to see her. hopefully. hopefully.

will update on my posts soon! :)

ministry of sound
25 april was the day that triggered my first clubbing experience at mos. it was a disappointment though. the interior was packed with people who are literally stoning at the dance floor, on top of that there weren’t any breathing space for us, not to mention dance.

look at the amount of ppl! :aie:
look at the amount of ppl!

we were asked to leave 30 mins earlier, and whats more frustrating was we had to squeeze and queue to retrieve our ics. i still enjoyed the night with my two sisters’ company though. zhiwai and olivia!

people claims the one in the middle will suffer an early death, but i wouldn’t care for this case! without them, i wouldn’t have survive the time of blues.. since pae.
zhiwai, me and olivia

obviously with all that fearsome struggle, we were starving like african kids and we headed to central’s burger king to makan. my class was there, so i asked zhiwai and olivia to join us.

an inspector calls

seriously, i didn’t have any head idea of what the play is about, so i did a search about this play on net and found this on wikipeida.

An Inspector Calls is a play written in 1944-1945 by the British dramatist J. B. Priestley. It was first performed in 1946 in two Moscow theatres as no London theatres were available. It was then first produced in London at the New Theatre on 1 October 1946. It shows the inter-connectedness of people in the drama of human existence, and reflects Priestley’s socialist views whilst outlining the problems he saw with capitalism. However, it consistently advocates duty and individual conscience, and as such is not so much collectivist as individualist, focusing on the importance of individuals voluntarily helping others..

difficult to comprehend? seems like it, but it was apparent to the audience.
