The talkback on dreams.

Monday, February 12th, 2007

We’re back at the part 2 of the CE enrichment workshop. This time round, Coach David was replaced with beautiful Coach Jocelyn. We were told of ideal ways for preparation of our upcoming ‘O’ levels.

Some important things to take note of.
- Never sit beside the windows when studying, as you might get distracted.
- Soothing music is effective when you’re reading.
- Never listen to songs, you will tend to memorise the lyrics instead of your notes.

Coach Jocelyn’s favourite chicken dance!

Riding For The Disabled Association Flag Day

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Yep, its the flag day, when I had to get donations from people just for the sake of my cip, something I never thought of or feel like doing. However, something doesn’t feel right today, I’m actually ENJOYING asking people for donations under the big fat sun. The weather is really tough on us today man. God I almost got dehydrated.

Never did I expect myself getting my can 70% filled at the end of the day. Wow, I actually managed to get so much donations! (On average, my mates were around 40% filled) So much for my 70% filled can, my feet were soring and I think I’m slightly feverish! Started out at Bukit Panjang Plaza, I got my first donation from a primary school kid. Wow! Singaporeans so rich huh? Traveled to Chua Chu Kang with Alvin, Choontat, Edwin and Jun An while Jin Yun and the others went over to Bugis to try their luck. Later we split up and I was with Choontat roaming into the depths of CCK. At 16.30, we decided to go back BPP to tackle those residents.

Singaporeans are kiasu, why? Everyone in the bus stop donated to us when we stopped by. Typical Singaporeans! They will do ANYTHING to save face, when the first person in the bus stop agrees to donate, the donation virus starts to spread, slowly the second person starts taking out his wallet, followed by the third…….. It would seem awkward if one person didn’t donate while the rest did. Its good in the sense that, Singaporeans seeing the other doing something, he/she will start to follow. (E.g getting free gifts .etc) Haha regardless, we were the ones who benefited and I really appreciate the people who donated and those who simply walked away with a smile…………

Despite my complaints throughout my journey with my friends, I’m proud to have collected so much. Sadly, there isn’t an award for my hard work. My collection ended when I went to BPP to report.

I was laughing and feeling pity when I read Weicheng’s blog about them being scolded for not getting their can half-filled. I’m happy that our donation results were better than the classes that had cip in the morning but its really frustrating if we were to get scolded for not getting the required amount of donations. How tiring if they really had to “re-volunteer” for flag day again.

Quoted from Weicheng’s post.

“All of you did not put in effort and give your best to ask people to donate for the Flag Day. It must be at least half a tin can of donations to show you are putting in enough effort. You all are representing your school to volunteer for the Flag Day, if you all are not willing to do this. Don’t do this Flag Day. You all have to come back and revolunteer for it on another day or your CIP hours will not be given to you. We will write a letter to your school and inform them about this.”

The man-in-charge is really being unreasonable. Since this is a volunteering action, shouldn’t we even be praised for our efforts? Besides there were TONS of other schools involved in the donation and many places were taken. Getting the donation can from 9am to 12pm, at least half-filled, is technically too much to ask for. Most Singaporeans will be either staying at home sleeping or watching television at that time. (Like me)

LOL one thing I learned today, if a student walks towards you and asks for donation, be sure to donate!

It’s been an awesome day. see ya. 8-)

Release of O levels.

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Not me getting the results, but my seniors. It was at 2.30pm when the 2006 O level results were released. Many were joy, some were sad. This year was a great a accomplishment for our seniors. We had almost 100% passes for all subjects. (correct me if I’m wrong) Woohoo!

This is the first time I’m actually proud of my stupid school. :aie:

Our school freaking top student, Le Tang, scored a handful of distinctions, 6 A1s, 1 A2, 1 B3.

OMG. :[

I felt as if I was part of my seniors getting the results. Gee. I hope next year at this time, I could shout out loud, "I did it!".

Joy or Sad? You decide.

That’s nuts.

EDITED: I just found a fix to the recent MSN Virus!

Kelvin from Yandao.com developed a fix to the “improfile.net” virus. Thanks!

What’s the “improfile.net virus”?
Quote from Yandao.com

the virus causes your MSN/Windows Live Messenger to actually spam out LOADS of messages to everyone on your contact list, hence infecting them in return should they run the file from the website.

There are other alternative, but this solves the problem nice and sweet. Seems to be working for majority. Congrats, no more reformat. LOL

Are you wasting too much time?

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Attended this CE workshop thingy which really taught me a lot of things at the end of the day.

“You will find it strange in a football match when without goals, won’t you find it strange when there’s no goals in your life?”

This is our last year. GCE ‘O’ Either we make it or break it.

Are we wasting too much time online? Using IM like MSN, Irc .etc Blogging, forum’ing.

Do we really need to do all these? People in the world are slowly becoming a geek or a nerd. We would really need to balance our time well, but who in the sense that can do it perfectly?
I wonder in thoughts for hours, still couldn’t figure out an answer. Later I realised that I have already wasted quite some time of my life, precious time, including the time when I was wondering. Is 10s worthwhile to you? 10s maybe important to determine the winner of a racing, running competition, when you’re dying, the 10s you left to spend with your love ones might be your last.

Time is escaping when I’m typing this, but still I feel there’s a need to voice out my feelings, not to the world, not my friends, but myself.

Do you have a goal in mind?
